For Grown Ups

Free to use. No purchase, no subscription, no in app purchases, and no ads. There is no tier, no per seat price, and no procurement process.

No license to sign, no contract, no quote, no renewal. Teachers can begin without approval from a budget holder, though many districts will still want the rest of this page first.

There is no purchase mechanism inside the product. The game's currencies are earned by doing math and cannot be bought with money. There is no checkout, no payment field, and no real money conversion anywhere in it.

No accounts. No email address, no password, nothing to sign up for.

No student data collected. Progress is stored on the device.

Local learner preferences include a name or initials, school grade, and optional U.S. state choice. They remain on the device and in user-exported backups. The app does not request or infer device location.

Nothing about your students leaves the room.

The product's stated privacy posture, in full: no application accounts; no passwords in the player; no analytics or advertising; no learner data sent to any application backend; no social profiles, chat, or public leaderboards; no real money purchase system; no device geolocation or inferred location; no cloud save. Backups are created only when a user chooses to create one.

One limitation, stated plainly. Because progress is stored on the device, clearing browser data can remove it unless a backup has been exported. A per learner backup file can be exported at any time and reloaded on the same or another device. We recommend a weekly backup per learner on shared classroom devices.

This section is written for district IT.

Third party requests. Fonts, audio, video, models, and all game assets are served from the Mathroom origin. No analytics, error reporting, telemetry, font CDN, or media CDN endpoint is configured anywhere in the application.

The Content Security Policy below restricts resource loading to the Mathroom origin. The release checker traces both worlds and reports the origins it observes.

Content Security Policy for the game:

default-src 'self'; base-uri 'none'; object-src 'none'; frame-ancestors 'none'; form-action 'self'; script-src 'self'; style-src 'self' 'unsafe-inline'; img-src 'self' data: blob:; media-src 'self' blob:; font-src 'self'; connect-src 'self'; worker-src 'self'; manifest-src 'self'

The For Grown Ups studio and its named adult documents use frame-ancestors 'self' and X-Frame-Options: SAMEORIGIN so Mathroom can embed them. The game and other routes retain frame denial.

Game security headers, as served over HTTPS:

HTTP requests are redirected to HTTPS. HSTS is served with a one year max age including subdomains; the preload token is not currently set.

Note that the Permissions Policy explicitly disables camera, microphone, geolocation, payment, and USB. The product has no use for any of them.

Secure development. Development follows the intent of the NIST Secure Software Development Framework: pinned major dependencies, deterministic asset manifests, type checking before bundling, media and content synchronisation verification, sanitiser and transaction testing, deployment credentials kept outside source and build output, commit and release identity attached to every deployed generation, staging and validation before activation, retained rollback generations, and built asset inspection for unexpected secrets or endpoints. The public player has no capability to write to the source repository.

Release identity is public. release.json returns the commit and release currently serving, so you can confirm exactly what version your students are running.

Practised skills are mapped to Common Core State Standards for Mathematics codes. The report describes practice coverage of the listed standards, not a formal assessment. The progress report shows, for each practised skill, its descriptor, its CCSS code, attempts, correct answers, and a level band.

All nine grade selections carry concept to standard mappings.

What is and is not claimed:

• The mapping identifies a closest primary CCSS code for each internal concept, with a parent facing descriptor. A concept spanning several standards lists the primary one.
• The report describes practice coverage of the listed standards, which standards a learner has worked on and how it went. It is not a formal assessment, a grade, a diagnosis, or a placement recommendation, and it is deliberately worded not to read as one.
• Complete coverage of a grade's full CCSS curriculum is not claimed. The product maps the standards it practises, not the standards a grade contains.
• No framework edition, adoption date, or state specific adaptation is recorded, so none is claimed here.

WCAG 2.2 is the normative accessibility framework, and accessibility checks are part of the release gate.

This is a conformance framework and its applied checks. It is not a VPAT or a formal Accessibility Conformance Report, and no third party audit is claimed. If your district requires a formal conformance document, contact hello@mathroom.fun and tell us which format you need.

Protections built into the product rather than promised around it:

• Plain language costs and odds wherever an in game choice has either
• No pressure based on real world time or scarcity
• No real money conversion of any kind
• No external social contact, chat, or messaging
• No public identity and no public leaderboard
• No automatic sharing of anything
• Recovery and reset actions require deliberate confirmation
• Progress language avoids medical, diagnostic, or high stakes assessment claims

A wrong math answer does not remove earned currency or collectibles. Action games include health and hazards; a platformer level can require another attempt.

Runs in a browser. Nothing to install, no extension, no admin rights. Chromebooks, iPads, Windows and Mac laptops, and phones.

Offline. Core play and previously loaded content work offline. After a first successful visit, the cached application shell, the math engine, local progress, the progress report, and local save and restore operate without a connection. First installation, updates, and any uncached asset require a network. Radio and DJ audio stream on demand and are not part of the offline cache.

Storage. The offline cache reserves headroom against the browser's reported quota and pauses warming under data saver mode or storage pressure. Actual available space on a given district device depends on that device.

Network access. Allow mathroom.fun over HTTPS. No other origin is required.

If your filter blocks it: school content filters frequently block anything categorised as a game, and some block domains they have not categorised. Mathroom is a browser based educational math program for grades 1 through 9 with no accounts, no advertising, no purchases, and no student data collection. If it is blocked on your network and you would like help getting it categorised correctly, contact hello@mathroom.fun.

We have no efficacy study, and no ESSA evidence tier certification. Not Tier I, not Tier IV. No randomised trial, no quasi experimental study, no correlational study, and no third party validation of learning outcomes. Mathroom is a practice tool that has not been independently measured, and anyone telling you a product's effect size should be able to show you the study.

What we can give you is the design rationale, stated plainly enough to evaluate:

• Retrieval practice. Learners answer before they are shown a method, rather than reading a worked example first.
• Worked examples on demand. Show Steps presents the full method beside the problem, and converts that round to practice rather than assessment, so asking for help costs nothing.
• Distributed practice. Cleared material returns on a schedule (currently one, three, seven and twenty one days) with success extending the interval and a miss shortening it.
• Interleaving and prerequisite reinforcement. Tracks deliberately include prerequisite standards from earlier grades, because a missing prerequisite in mathematics does not slow a learner down, it stops them.
• Mastery evidence that cannot be inflated. Assisted answers do not enter the qualifying evidence the report reads from. A learner cannot raise a band by asking for more help.
• Bounded adaptivity. Difficulty adjusts within the chosen track rather than moving a learner off their grade.

These are ordinary, well supported instructional practices, implemented deliberately. That is a rationale, not evidence of outcomes, and we would rather you know the difference than have us blur it.

If your district requires a documented rationale in a specific format (a logic model, an ESSA Tier IV submission, a completed evidence questionnaire), contact hello@mathroom.fun and tell us which. We would rather produce the document you actually need than publish an approximation.

Because there are no accounts, several things a district usually asks about do not exist here:

• No SSO or LTI. There is nothing to sign into.
• No rostering: no Clever, no ClassLink, no OneRoster sync. There is no roster to sync.
• No gradebook or LMS integration. Reports print; they do not export to an SIS.
• No admin console or district dashboard. There is no account layer to administer.
• No SOC 2 report. SOC 2 attests to controls over customer data held by a vendor. We hold no customer data on any server. We can complete a security questionnaire describing the posture above, and the deployed configuration is verifiable from outside.

These are consequences of collecting nothing. If your district's process requires rostering or SSO as a precondition, Mathroom will not clear it, and we would rather say so on this page than in week six of a procurement.

Being precise about the limits is what makes the rest of this page credible.

• No formal VPAT or third party accessibility audit
• No claim of complete CCSS curriculum coverage, and no framework edition or state alignment
• No ESSA evidence tier certification at any tier, and no efficacy study
• No independent verification of the standards mappings against official CCSS text
• No certified browser or device support matrix
• No SOC 2, ISO 27001, or equivalent attestation
• No SSO, LTI, rostering, or SIS integration
• No independent security audit or penetration test is claimed

If your district requires any of these, contact hello@mathroom.fun and tell us what you need. We would rather produce the document you actually require than publish an approximation of it.

Choose the learner’s current school grade. Levels 1 through 7 practice the previous year’s math. Level 0 starts one year earlier again, with kindergarten as the earliest curriculum and small-number foundations for first graders. An easier grade remains available when practice is a struggle.

Mathroom makes practicing math into a game. It is not a diagnostic tool or an official assessment. Diagrams and optional question reading help learners focus on the math; reading aloud does not reduce rewards.

A learner picks a track and works through questions in the main room. They choose an answer, check it, and get feedback. Worked explanations sit beside the question, so a method is always one tap away rather than something they have to go looking for.

Choose a track. Choose the learner’s current grade, 1 through 9, to practice math from the previous school year. Grade 1 practices kindergarten math. Each track has a Review starting point plus seven topic levels. You or the learner chooses; nothing is locked behind a placement test.

Practice. Questions are drawn from the chosen track. Recent accepted answers adjust difficulty in bounded steps, and the system watches skill coverage inside a topic, so a learner gets useful variety rather than repetitions of whichever question is easiest to get right.

Get help without losing anything. A first miss opens a retry on the same problem. Show Steps reveals the worked solution and makes that round practice only, then a fresh problem gives the learner a clean chance to use the method. Help is unlimited and never penalised.

Come back to it. Cleared material returns on a schedule. The current intervals are one, three, seven, and twenty one days. A successful review pushes the interval out; a miss brings it closer. Due questions are woven into ordinary practice rather than living in a separate revision queue.

Both are available immediately. Neither is earned, unlocked, or purchased.

A calculator with its own keypad, usable by keyboard. You decide when it belongs in the activity: practise the computation by hand, check a result, or use it while reasoning about a larger problem.

A writing surface (the Scratch Pad downstairs, the Note Book upstairs) with lined, grid, and graph paper. Draw or type. Ink colours, erase, undo and redo, zoom, pan, and full screen. Work stays with the current learner and follows the current question. Closing the frame doesn't erase the page.

A learner can sketch a number line, divide a bar into fractions, label a shape, or write out an explanation, and then you can ask them about it. That's the part of the session no software does for you.

No student data collected. Progress is stored on the device. The report has two views.

This Player: one learner's topic progress, answer counts, and mapped skills or standards.

Whole Device: every learner saved on the machine you're using, within the current world. Useful for a station tablet, a shared classroom computer, or a family device.

Printable progress reports for one learner or for the learners saved in the current world on this device.

How understanding is shown

Two ways, for two different things.

Topics show a numerical 0 to 100% mastery value. Skills and standards show bands: Not started, Emerging, Developing, Mastered.

What it is, and what it isn't

The report summarises practice evidence. It is not a grade, a diagnosis, or a placement recommendation. It summarises what a learner has practised and how consistently, which is useful for choosing what to work on next, and is not a substitute for your own assessment.

The part worth knowing about

Assisted answers don't enter the qualifying evidence the report reads from.

When a learner opens the worked steps, that round becomes practice rather than assessment. It still earns ordinary main-room answer rewards; it does not add mastery evidence or an unearned first-attempt streak bonus. The same applies to retries. The first attempt is what the record keeps.

The result is that help stays completely free for the learner while the practice evidence stays trustworthy for you. A learner cannot raise a number by asking for more help.

Multiple learners on one device. Create a local player profile for each. Names and grade choices carry between the two worlds; progress and rewards stay separate per world. Pick the right player at the start of a session.

Moving between devices. Export a portable backup for the selected player and world, then load it on the new device.

Worth telling families directly. Because progress is stored on the device, clearing browser data can remove it unless a backup has been exported. Saying this plainly is better than a learner losing a collection without warning, and exporting a backup takes about ten seconds.

Offline. Prepare the offline kit while connected. Core play and previously loaded content work offline. Radio and newly loaded video need a connection.

If your school network blocks it. School filters often block anything categorised as a game, and some block domains they haven't categorised. Ask IT to allow mathroom.fun: a browser based math program for grades 1 through 9 with no accounts, no advertising, no purchases, and no student data collected. The page for administrators has everything they'll ask for.

Information for administrators

WCAG 2.2 is the normative accessibility framework, and accessibility checks are part of the release gate.

In practice: Reduced Motion and Compact Layout. Larger question text. The 2D platformer has remappable keyboard controls, displayed controller mappings, and separate music, effects and voice volumes. Controller button prompts can match the connected layout; changing prompt artwork does not remap the controller. Optional read aloud using the device's own speech synthesis. Comic transcripts and readable text alongside every voiced tutorial.

And several things that aren't in a settings menu: nothing is timed in ordinary practice, answer choices hold their position while a question is on screen, and a wrong answer does not remove earned collections or currency.

Two worlds, chosen at the front door. The Math Attic with Lacy and Pearl, the Math Basement with Riff and Thunk, each with its own artwork, music, companions, and stories. Same mathematics, same help, same free experience.

Practice opens the rest of it: collectible companions with mathematical themes, themed topic bosses, an arcade, sports, a world tour, comics, and an adventure mode with routes to explore.

Two things worth knowing about that layer:

The game's currencies are earned by doing math and cannot be bought with money. There is no checkout anywhere in the product.

Practice welcomes another try. A wrong math answer does not remove earned currency or collectibles. Action games have health, hazards and retries; the platformer can require another attempt at a level.

• Is it really free? Free to use. No purchase, no subscription, no in app purchases, and no ads.
• Can I get a report for my whole class? For everyone on a device, yes. Across thirty separate devices, no; that would require accounts and student data.

Nothing to sign up for and nothing to cancel. Open it, pick a grade, and give a learner five minutes with it.

Teacher quickstart online

Choose the learner’s current school grade. Levels 1 through 7 practice the previous year’s math. Level 0 starts one year earlier again, with kindergarten as the earliest curriculum and small-number foundations for first graders. An easier grade remains available when practice is a struggle.

Mathroom makes practicing math into a game. It is not a diagnostic tool or an official assessment. Diagrams and optional question reading help learners focus on the math; reading aloud does not reduce rewards.

• Free to use. No purchase, no subscription, no in app purchases, and no ads.
• No accounts. No email address, no password, nothing to sign up for.
• No student data collected. Progress is stored on the device.
• There's nothing to cancel, because there was never anything to start.

Worth being specific, because you've probably been burned by a "free" game before.

Your card. There is no checkout, no payment field, and no purchase of any kind anywhere in the product. Not hidden in a menu, not behind a boss, not at level 30.

Your email. Or your child's. There's no account to create.

Your patience with ads. There are none. Nothing to watch, nothing to skip, nothing to accidentally tap while reaching for an answer.

The game has its own currencies: slime bucks downstairs, star tokens upstairs. The game's currencies are earned by doing math and cannot be bought with money. There's no exchange rate, because there's nothing to exchange.

Nothing about your students leaves the room. Progress is stored in the browser on the device they played on. It isn't sent anywhere, because there's nowhere for it to be sent.

Your child chooses a name or initials and a school grade. An optional U.S. state preference personalizes local examples. These preferences stay on the device and in any backup you choose to export; the app does not request or infer device location.

No one can contact your child. There's no chat, no messaging, no friend list, no public leaderboard, and no public identity. Nothing is ever shared automatically.

No advertising trackers and no marketing profiles. Everything it loads comes from its own site.

This is the practical thing most worth your attention.

Because progress is stored on the device, clearing browser data can remove it unless a backup has been exported. A phone cleanup, a "clear cache" from a help article, a new browser. Any of those can wipe a collection your child worked weeks for.

The fix takes about ten seconds. With your child selected as the player, open Menu, then Save and choose Save a Backup File. That downloads one small file with their progress. Load a Backup File brings it back, on that device or a different one.

One backup at the end of each week is plenty. Do it before any device cleanup.

Questions come from the grade track you or your child chooses. Choose the learner’s current grade, 1 through 9, to practice math from the previous school year. Grade 1 practices kindergarten math. Difficulty adjusts within that track to stay in a useful range.

Help is unlimited and never penalised. If your child gets something wrong, they get another try on the same problem. If they open the worked steps, they see the whole method, and that round becomes practice rather than a score, so nothing is lost by asking for help. A fresh problem comes along to try the method on.

Nothing is timed in ordinary practice. Your child can take as long as they need.

A wrong math answer invites another try. Earned currency and collectibles are kept. Action games also have health and hazards, so a platformer level can need another attempt.

Progress grows through practice. The ordinary journey earns its rewards and unlocks through play. There is no paid shortcut or checkout.

Open Menu, then Report. It prints.

Topics show a numerical 0 to 100% mastery value. Skills and standards show bands: Not started, Emerging, Developing, Mastered. Practised skills are mapped to Common Core State Standards for Mathematics codes. The report describes practice coverage of the listed standards, not a formal assessment.

The report summarises practice evidence. It is not a grade, a diagnosis, or a placement recommendation.

One detail worth knowing: This Player shows an earned rank; Whole Device lists the local player names in the current world. Neither report is uploaded automatically.

The single most useful thing you can do takes one question.

When they get something right, ask: "How did you decide?"

You'll hear whether they reasoned it out, spotted a pattern, or guessed well, and any of those opens a real conversation. If they're not sure, open the worked steps together. There's a calculator and a drawing pad built in, free from the first question, and both work for a side by side conversation.

You don't need to be good at math to do this. You only need to be curious about how they got there.

At the front door your child picks one: the Math Attic with Lacy and Pearl, or the Math Basement with Riff and Thunk. Different artwork, music, companions, and stories.

Same math, same help, same free. Pick whichever looks more fun, and either can be switched later.

Email hello@mathroom.fun. A person reads it.
